Wave Vol. 1 (zine)
Wave: Poetry Vol. 1 is the first zine from the Wave Collective Poetry Circle, a group of creatives who’ve been gathering twice monthly at Wave Collective in San Francisco (663 Haight St) to read—and sometimes write—poetry. While our meetings take place in the city, our members come from across the Bay Area, from as far east as Walnut Creek to as far south as San Jose.
We’re teachers, students, stand-up comics, therapists, tech workers, and above all, poets who inhabit dozens of ways of being. What connects us is a shared curiosity about language and a commitment to showing up.
Meeting regularly, in person, to give one another and poetry our full attention—this has become something rare and grounding.
This zine is a collection of original original poems that emerged from those gatherings. It’s also a celebration of the act of gathering itself, and the community we have cultivated together.
Created over many months of sporadic meetings in coffee shops, apartment living rooms, (and when the bay felt too big, video calls), Wave: Poetry Vol. 1 is a small artifact we have created to invite you into a moment of slowness and consideration.
